Not every garden needs a complete overhaul. Sometimes, just an element of the garden needs changing. In these cases, I can provide both a plan and a garden planting schedule that illustrate the shape of the new borders and describe the plants going in.

At the garden consultation stage, we will examine the garden and decide which areas need improvement. This involves assessing the overall shape and style of the garden and its relevance to you now. Although often the focus is on the planting, I will examine the existing paving. Does it need replacing or just cleaning up, and can we build around it?

The design will then build on the existing garden and outline proposed changes and improvements. We will consider how to make the garden more sustainable and wildlife-friendly.

My services include clearing old vegetation and weeds and preparing the new borders. Plants that are being kept will be pruned and if necessary, moved. The borders will then have compost or soil improver added before the new plants go in and then be mulched to help suppress the weeds and keep the moisture in the ground.

The planting design and schedule consider the size of the plants, their growth habits, and maintenance requirements. The schedule provides all the information you need to care for the garden in the future. It acts as a seasonal calendar, helping you plan your gardening activities throughout the year.
